Private 5G networks promise to transform both in-building and outdoor connectivity across all enterprise verticals with high-speed, low-latency, and consistent coverage. However, unlocking these benefits for indoor and outdoor deployments often requires managing multiple SKUs, band-specific radios, or additional equipment to extend coverage at the cell edge. These challenges can slow deployments, increase complexity and cost, and limit flexibility across geographies and use cases. This series of blogs explores how the Moso Canopy 5GID2 and 5GOD2 radios boost private 5G network performance with integrated features including dynamic cell edge performance enhancement, carrier aggregation, dual-carrier support, and advanced network slicing. It also highlights how the industry’s first Qualcomm FSM20056-based platform is software configurable multi-band support in a single radio to simplify deployments and support both CBRS and licensed spectrum, Together, these capabilities enable operators to optimize coverage, capacity, and application performance across industries, from manufacturing and logistics to utilities, smart farming, and defense.
Cell Edge Performance Enhancement
The 5GID2/5GOD2 radios significantly improve cell-edge performance, delivering a 31% increase in average downlink and a 71% increase in uplink throughput at a 4 km range. These gains extend coverage and reduce performance degradation at the network edge. The feature enables a seamless experience throughout the network, even at the edges of coverage.
To achieve this, the 5GID2/5GOD2 identify and track devices operating at the edge of the coverage area, dynamically adjusting transmission parameters. By fine-tuning modulation, coding schemes, and power allocation, they optimize data delivery and maintain consistent performance from center to edge.

Boosting Capacity with Carrier Aggregation
The 5GID2/5GOD2 radios support both carrier aggregation and dual-carrier operation—two related capabilities that increase downlink capacity, bolster resiliency, and unlock new revenue opportunities for service providers. Enabling carrier aggregation is like adding lanes to a highway, with each 20 MHz channel functioning as a separate lane. Just as more lanes allow more vehicles to travel at once, combining channels increases throughput by facilitating parallel data flow.
When a contiguous 40 MHz channel isn’t available, the 5GID2/5GOD2 radios aggregate non-contiguous channels—such as 20 MHz + 20 MHz or 20 MHz + 10 MHz—to expand
downstream bandwidth. By doubling the data transmitted per time slot, carrier aggregation increases per-device throughput while optimizing overall network efficiency. It also bolsters resilience, allowing traffic to continue even if one channel experiences interference.
